I purchased this camera here on Amazon back in December 2008. It’s May 2009 and I’ve yet to take a single picture with it. Why? Because it cannot take pictures on any MS Pro Duo cards that also have the Magic Gate technology — which 99% of them DO. The Sony web site shows tons of pictures of this camera next to Ms Pro Duo chips, all of which say “Magic Gate” on them. But try any of those chips in the camera and they do not work. I spent $150+ on memory because of this error on Sony’s part. Their tech support is the world’s worst. It took several techs many days to figure out what was wrong. By the time they did, I could no longer return my memory sticks. Sony would offer zero help, even after they acknowledged that their site is 100% misleading to consumers. A national customer service rep told me, “Just because the Sony web site shows this camera next to a magic gate MS Pro Duo chip does not mean that the camera necessarily works with that chip.” 6 months in, and I still haven’t taken a single successful picture or video. Thanks, Sony.

We lost all data of baptism. camera works great, until disk is “unreadable”. this camera would be much better if it were marketed as a $600 paperweight. DO NOT BUY THIS CAMERA.

I bought it as a gift for my brother and he loved it. I can’t comment on the details.

An excellent HD camcorder. Saves to DVD+RW or ProDUO (I use the 8 GB Sony). Pictures are crystal clear, and the 5.1 surround sound is excellent (sounds exactly as if you’re outdoors). An excellent price too, listed as top buy in Money Magazine.
