Note, this gadget needs to be connected to the computer’s motherboard, not the USB port. If you do connect, your computer’s warranty may become void. Moreover, about one third of the memory cards supported by this gadget, need
adapters. At extra cost of course. Descriptions and features are incomplete or misleading. I bought this item
for my Sony digital camera and thus the Sony reader/writer
You would think this would be an ideal match. Shame on Sony.

I have a Dell Dimension E520 that came with a card reader but the SD Read slot gave way, so I saw this device and noticed the USB port, so naturally I added it to my cart. Was delivered in Amazon style, on time and in one piece, after installation which required removing the existing cable it was fine, but when I started writing this review I couldn’t get the USB port to work, after I plugged and different device into it, it worked brilliantly. The device I should be rating is the WD portable hard drive. Anyway that’s for a different review.
So in closing if you want to add another USB port while having the flexiblilty of the card readers then this is a winner.
N.B. It alos read my Class C, 8GB Scandisk SDHC card.

I just got this locally from an electronics store for use with my Digital Rebel XT. as far as i can tell i’ve tested the USB functionality and Compact flash reader to my satisfaction. Works and says what it does. If you have a beige colored computer it also comes with a like-colored faceplate.
Another positive about this reader is that there are no standby or power lights that are on constantly, unlike others that have a constant power light. Only lights up when there’s a card inserted.
The internal header connector allowed me to also use my spare USB header on my motherboard. My Cooler Master 922 only utilizes one of the headers, leaving the second to waste. Thanks Sony!

First of all, Amazon is really great, I order this Wednesday afternoon with Prime and Amazon shipping it to me on Thursday! A++++ for Amazon!
This internal card reader is great, nicely packaged. it actually has a box! Not like some generic/cheap brand with no box and just an anti-static bag with a manual. the quality of the drive also looks good. It also has a replaceable face-plate if your case is white. Very easy to install (it has 4 screws included), and as long as your motherboard has pins for USB port (my mobo has 3 sets of USB pins), you’re good to go. Only problem for me is my mid-tower has the 3.5″ drive slot at the very top and the USB pins at the very botttom of the mobo, so the cable was barely long enough. Other than that I had no problem. Boot up Windows 7 RC, it immediately recognized the drive and installed the drivers. Then the drive is ready for use!
