Sony SRS-P7 Passive Speaker System with Stereo Mini-Plug Input
The SRS-P7 passive speakers provide a lightweight, portable option for your personal music player. With their compact size and shape, these speakers are perfect for a dorm room or office. Because they use a passive system, the power to sound these speakers comes from the source music player. These speakers will not provide the sound quality or power of active speakers. That said, these low cost, low-weight, compact speakers do provide good sound. One way Sony accomplishes this is by featuring a bass reflex duct design; this design provides extra bass. There is one stereo mini-plug on the speakers so that you can hook up your personal player with ease. The speakers are joined together for better portability. Because there are no power adaptors or batteries required, this speaker system is easy to pick up and carry to the next room (they weigh under ten ounces), or to the next state, should you want to travel with these small speakers. Great for the price
These are very versatile, light weight, speakers. For those reviewers who complained they wouldn’t power your laptop sound etc. that is not what they are for.

If you’re looking for small speakers at this price range, you shouldn’t be expecting much. Given that, these light and small speakers do just the trick for the office if you want to listen to music sans headphones but not loud enough to get on your coworkers’ nerves. Plus, these speakers don’t need a dedicated power source and can run off the juice running through the input line. But like all disapproving homeboys, a little bass to shake some booty in the cubicle would’ve been nice.

Sony Speaker Review
Very convenient and inexpensive with good sound for small devices, such as walkman, portable radio, portable tv, and any small device that has an earplug socket.

It decreased the loudness!!
I bought these SRS-P7 Sony speakers for about 9 dollars and knew it was going to be nothing special.

Good Speaker for the Price
These speaker are not as powerful as I had hoped but definitely get the job done. They are great speakers for the price. Shipping was quick and got here on time. No complaints.

TRASH, TRASH, TRASH
DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.
They are so low you can hardly hear them.
Just add $10 and buy Sony SRS-TP1.

I am sorry for all of those folks who bought these expecting loud/amplified sound that would be able to cut through a lot of background noise, because these speakers will not do that. However, they do work very nicely for my tiny little mp3 player, and when I had my old walkman hooked up at my workstation/office at my job. The sound quality is decent, and at maximum volume on the walkman/cd player/mp3 player that I am using, these little speakers keep my happy, and do not rattle the folks next door. I have had these for about 6 years now, and now for 2-5 bucks, these are worth a shot. I paid 15 originally because they were new. They do not owe me a thing. A strong plus is that they are durable. I have found this out because I am clumsy, and so are folks that put stuff on my workspace. These have fallen from 12 inches from shelf to desk sever dozen times, not a problem. I hope you don’t give up on these little speakers because some folks have put them to use with to high of expectations.

Great for quiet spaces
I use these every day at my place of work. They’re easily audible (run from an iPod) in the quiet room.

Okay for iPod, LOUSY for laptop
When they say “Passive,” they’re not kidding — As many of the 1-star reviews have stated, these are actually quieter (read: barely audible) than laptop internal speakers…

horrible
This product is horrible; the sound from speakers is 10 times less than a normal laptop has. I seriously suggest this is the worst ever product made by sony.

These speakers made my already hard-to-hear laptop. . . sound worse. Actually ‘worse’ is not the right word. It was like turning the volume down to less than one barline. 1-star rating is too high.

Passive Speakers
This is exactly what I wanted. Passive speakers don’t draw electricity and therefore the light bill is lower.
