Good product, my 2nd vaio laptop after the screen of my 1st one died. No problems till now, have been using it for a month. The external finishing could have been better rather than the sharp edged metal piece it is. Easy to set up and use.

I’ve had this laptop for about a year now, use it every day carrying it back and forth. First of all, I’m very impressed with how long the battery life has lasted even with all the extensive use: Previous laptop battery life had dropped to anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour, after using them for a year, while this laptop still has a good 2-3 hours on it unplugged.
The cover is a little prone to scratches, but I like it better than the glossy kind, which are fingerprint magnets. A neoprene cover/slip does the trick nicely. Personally the 250gb is a godsend, but most people probably wouldn’t need it. Never had trouble with processor speeds; It’s handled all the tasks I’ve thrown at it nicely. The DVD burner is also very fast and efficient, albeit a little noisy but no more than any other laptop I know of.
Overall I’ve pretty much maxed out this laptop for all it was worth, and for me, it was worth every penny. It’s nice to buy a laptop and a year later, still have it be comparable or even better than current laptops on the market. The price here is a liiiittle steep since this is an older model, but if you can find it for a few hundred less, I’d say it’s still a good buy.
EDIT: 10/24/2009. Still using this model, and just got Windows 7. It runs GREAT (better than it ran Vista), much faster. Also the music control pad on the front can actually control music programs even when those windows aren’t directly open now, which is really nice. It’s been 2 years of daily use now and unplugged battery life is still about 1.5 hours, which is good.

This is by far my best buy on Amazon. Sony was capable of create a notebook with great performance, design and flexibility. It fullfils all of my needs and expectations.
