I am very impressed with this HD. The wireless security feature is really cool. When you plug the HD to your computer just wave one of the 2 wireless key’s that come with the HD over the sensor area to unlock it. Once you do this the HD will pop up on your computer and be ready to use. The HD casing is really stylish with a stainless steel surface and shiny black top. The HD feels pretty durable. The HD also comes with a really nice leather case to slide the HD into when not in use.
The negatives about this HD are that it requires 2 AA Batteries to run the wireless key sensor pad feature, so extra cost on changing batteries in the future. Also, YOU MUST HAVE AND NEVER LOSE THE WIRELESS KEY’S TO THE HD!!!! If you do the HD will not be accessible. There is no way to disable the wireless security feature, it is built into the HD. Another thing I have to mention is that for some reason my Playstation 3 system does not detect the HD when I plug it in and after being unlocked for some reason. It’s a compatibility issue I suppose. This is bad for me because I have lot’s of music and videos on the HD, which I would like to view & listen on my TV through the PS3. Hopefully Sony comes out with an update for the PS3 to address this. The $200 price tag is higher than I would have liked to pay but this is a high quality piece of equipment.
The HD system requirements say that the HD is built for Windows XP. I have an Apple Air Book running MAC OS system and the HD works with it just fine. No problem if your a Mac owner looking to purchase this HD.
Other than the above problems I mentioned, this Sony HD is an excellent piece of gear which provides good security for your data if that is something you really need. I’d recommend.
