The lamp had my big ole TV up and running great in no time. Installation was easy.

After five years of excellent service, my 50″ Sony TV finally quit on me due to a blown bulb. I bought the replacement bulb from Vanns and successfully resurrected it! After about a week without TV, needless to say the new bulb seems to be producing super bring color on my TV.
It is easy to replace the bulb. The only trick is that if you want to test before fully reassembling it back, you need to make sure the the little cover is put back on, otherwise, a small sensing tab is not depressed and the TV won’t turn on. I was worried that I might have got a dud, but visited the troubleshooting section of the owner’s manual and finally figured it out.
Although everything worked out, I still think the bulb is way over priced. Why would a simple bulb with a simple metal housing costs close to one hundred sixty bucks?

At first I was a little scared to try and replace my lamp on my 55″ LCD but after finding out how much a repair service wanted to charge me just to look at the tv, I quickly got braver. I got this withing 3 days of ordering the lamp and had it installed within 5 minutes. This was so simple I can’t believe I was ever worried about doing it. The lamp came with instrucions and the wrench to unscrew the old lamp and tighten down the new one. My tv looks like brand new. The picture is so bright and vivid. I love it.
Morale of the story: DO NOT give your money to some repair service, do it yourself.

Reviews were definitely helpful….after identifying correct lamp, ordered module thru Vanns for ease of install. Very important-I have a 60in. Gran Wega, (i think model is kf60ew610)-The panel to remove is in the FRONT-bottom portion of the TV, where the power indicator light panel is-easily comes off with the big screws in the back panel, and access to module is right there…unscrew lamp w/ supplied allen wrench, remove old lamp, insert new lamp into position, screw in bolts tightly*** DO NOT TAKE BACK PANEL OFF***, its not there, as i found out!! ALSO-after install, MAKE SURE you put lamp cover back on-not front panel-LAMP COVER, then check to see if operational…should work. Reason i know this is because i did not put lamp cover on and TV indicated a series of blink sequences, green, yellow, then red..then 3 red blinks repeatedly then unit would turn itself off….Thank goodness the sony tech support had a knowledgeable person!! Very easy to install if done correctly. Oh, by the way, the bulb i just replaced lasted almost 5.5 yrs and i watch ALOT of movies, i hope to duplicate that w/ the new one!!
