i am so glad i ordered this case instead of the cheaper but also cheaper looking cases. the hard shell protects my new macbook pro perfectly from scratches and feels nice and soft. i love the colors that speck offers. i chose my favorite color purple and it’s exactly like i wanted my mac to be! pruplelicious!

This item arrived damaged… the “satin” finish was rubbed off in the corner. The company that shipped it was great about the return and offered a replacement, but after some deliberation i decided against it. If it was less expensive, i might have gone through with the purchase. $43 (after the shipping costs) was way too much for an item that is so easily scratched.

I was very disappointed with this product. The bottom half was poorly constructed, and did not properly fit my computer. Also, the case was unevenly shaped in the rear. To be honest, it looked like someone took an older shell and used an exacto knife to retrofit it for the Macbook Pro. Also, there were some unnecessary ridges which interfered with wrist movement while I was typing. Finally, the “satin” exterior was a major dust magnet. I swear I never so much dust near my Macbook until I put this thing on my computer. Save your money and buy a nice neoprene sleeve instead.

Background: I currently use the green hard shell case on my 2 yrs. old 15 MBP and have been very satisfied. So when I purchased my wife her own 13 MBP I knew a shell case was a must since the current protects my 15 MBP very well. For example – if I took off the case, you would think my MBP is new since there are little sign nicks or dings to the outside the MBP.
I got her the red SATIN shell case and she loves it. It’s smooth to the touch and makes her MBP very personal with a “girl” look. The only draw back is the SATIN is very dust prone and the dust is more visibile than my hard case. Otherwise this is a good product with a slightly higher price tag one would expect but is worth the protection for any mac.

I absolutely love my Speck case. I am so glad I bought it, it is cute and it protects my macbook pro. This was a great buy.
