The Star Tech USB capture cable and software was pretty easy to install and use but I have one small problem. Getting the video from my VCR to my computer hard drive was easy. Burning to a DVD from my hard drive was also easy. Getting the DVD to play on my two stand alone DVD players in my entertainment center or using my computers DVD playing software is another story.
The DVD’s will only open with Windows Media Player. If I wamt to watch them on my TV I’m out of luck! Star Tech tech support said there was a problem with my burning software, and the people at Roxio could not figure out the problem either. Using Nero didn’t help.
I’ve tried using the MPEG 2 and DVD NTSC settings on the the Grab Bee program and still no luck. If anyone has a solution please respond to this review.
I’d give this thing 5 stars if I could figure out this problem.

Bought the product tried to make a DVD from a cassette DV camera onto a computer with Vista 32 operating system. Four different format productions and only one would burn and that made a movie so slow and image which breaks up so as to be useless. The original driver crashed my computer! Now when I start the program that came with the cable it wants to change my Windows registry!I e-mailed Startech for help and they sent a link for a driver and the link does not work. Whatever capture cable you get pass this set up by!

This was not so user friendly, but it worked. I found another way to do the same thing, so I returned this and Amazon was GREAT with the return and refund. No real complaints, I just found a better way to do it. (Magnivox DVD-R and VHS combo to record my home videos from VHS.)

I bought this capture card to help with videoconferencing. You can not choose this card on the Polycom PVX software. So, I tried it with video streaming (Real Producer). It worked with Real Producer, but it was very choppy. I looked like it was running at 1 or 2 fps. I wouldn’t recommend it if you needed quality capture.

Recently, I bought a “Startech” Video Capture Cable from Amazon.com.
Unfortunately, the enclosed “DVD Solution” software did not come along with the instruction manual in the box. So I don’t know how to use it. Actually, the cover package box stipulated the “DVD Solution” manual is inside the box. But it is not inside. The reply from “Startech” is not to the point. I am still awaiting for their response.
I can capture the video using this cable, but the result resolution is not to what I expect (some frames are not smooth in play-back), may be due to my Windows Vista 64 bits. I had downloaded the updated driver from their web site. But, it seems that this cable is only supported by Windows Vista 32 Bits.
