When the power went out for really long periods of time on previous units, those units would drain the battery until it was dead. When the battery goes dead it will no longer recharge properly. Hopefully that won’t happen with this unit.
I’ve had the UPS for about a month now and I get a short (under 5 minute) power outages every few days. I haven’t had a really long outages yet. I use this UPS to battery backup my Monitor, Computer Tower, and Router.

I have an office in an area where the power goes off (usually briefly) every once in a while… My computers have their own UPS’s but, the cable modem, router, ethernet hub, etc, all resets everytime. This powers them for longer than my computers’ UPS will keep them going. And, I think it offers protection against the surge that happens when the juice comes back on.
All in all, I’m glad I got it.
