Product does as specified. Have it connected to my DVR to give me 320GB of HDD space to record more programs. It’s pretty quiet since it has no fans and the aluminum casing gets a little hot to disepate the heat. I didn’t connect the LED since it’s too bright for the living room and it will light it up in the dark. Also, don’t like the blue LED staring me in the face while watching my programs.
Overall, would recommend this HDD enclosure.

I’ve owned a number of Vantec enclosures and all have been very reliable. Some have been attached to servers and run 24-7 with no problems. I’ve read some reviews stating that they run hot because they don’t have fans. I’ve never seen this to be a problem. One other complaint I’ve read with these units is the wiring of the light. The instructions say how the light should be wired. If you follow the instructions, it will work fine. If not, it will short and not function. Either way, I still highly recommend the enclosure as it does what’s intended, lighted or not.

I picked this up after I wrecked my external Seagate and needed to transfer the drive over. It gets pretty hot but other than that it does the job.

I have an older one that has run faithfully for over a year. I purchased the newer model and it did not work. I am going to try this again. I was less favorable becuase they should not have shipped that unit. This new one does look sportier than the older model. Hopefully it will be as relyable when I get one that works. They did improve the power connection. It used to be like a mouse or keyboard connection, now it is like a most easy to plug power supply connections.
