I’ve had this harddrive to backup my data for my iMac for 6 months now and it never gets hot like my old harddrive, when writing data you can hear it but other than that I haven’t had any problems and is ultra silent. It’s always cool to the touch, which means it has proper air circulation which many more compact externals don’t have which shortens their life span. HIghly recommend.
