This drive arrived in plain brown paper packaging WITH ABSOLUTELY ZERO INSTRUCTIONS, OR DOCUMENTATION, OF ANY KIND. No setup DVD. NOTHING. I haven’t gotten it to work. Furthermore, it’s input jack was inconsistent with what was required for the Dell Inspiron 1100 I had hoped to update with it. I have yet to find any use for it, but because nothing could be discovered before ripping off the sealed bag it came in, it cannot be returned. I would advise that you NOT buy this drive.

This drive died after only three weeks!!! Where’s the quality control? tick tick tick tick tick… I’m never buying a Western Digital product again.

Western Digital + Large Compacity = How could you go wrong? This is the Best reviewed hard drive and is recommended for the MacBook Pro, if you are unfortunate to own one.

I ordered this drive, and went through the painful install process on my Macbook Pro (Intel Core Duo). The drive was DOA. But of course, I assumed that I had done something wrong, so I went through the trouble-shooting process, which, if you’re thorough, involves uninstalling the drive, putting back the original and booting up, then taking the MBP apart and RE-installing the WD drive, just to be sure I didn’t have a loose wire or something the first time. After doing this TWICE, I realized that the drive was dead on arrival, and had to return it. Amazon does make it easy to return- for that I give them two stars. I *may* try again to re-order this drive and see what happens, but I’ll have to schedule about 3 hours for the process, just in case. Ridiculous. If I can find a similar drive from someone else, I’ll probably order that, instead.

I installed this drive 3 days ago and yesterday it started sounding loud and scratchy and scary. And so far Amazon refuses to answer my email asking what they’re going to do about it.
