When I first bought the My Passport, I was extremely excited and I could not wait to use it. In the past, I had two bad experiences with a HP laptop where I did not back up my documents and lost about 2 years worth of information! (Yes, I know, some of it is my fault by- 1. not buying a Mac and 2. not backing up). Anyways, using My Passport at first was extremely easy but then backing up started taking FOREVER (which I mean forever, backing up only 500 MB took about 1 hour to 1 hour and a half) and when I was backing up I could not use any of the files on My Passport. Eventually, I was told by Apple Support that the hardware on my external hard drive was not working properly. So, they had to reset my external hard drive and I had to copy all of my files back onto the hard drive.
After the reset, my external hard drive has been working wonderful! Backing up now only takes about 2 minutes (it is backing up about 50 GB nows)!! So, I do not have anymore worries about my external hard drive and I truly think that the $104 are worth it!
Plus, My Passport is easy to transport and easy to store in my desk drawer!!

Booted up quickly, small in size, big in memory; I’m using, not with [Mac] Time Machine, as I don’t need that much backing up, but just to back up my files and pictures every couple of months. It’s working great!

I wanted a simple backup mechanism for my mac, this is it.
Fair price, speedy, works with 10.5.x and Time Machine just
fine. I saved a bunch of money verses the Apple Store.

I have two external hard drives. One to backup my entire computer, I keep it plugged in and Mac automatically backs up in regular intervals. Everything about a mac is highly intuitive and this is no exception. I also have this product that I use to keep my media on. I keep photos, music, and movies on this drive and off of my laptop. When I want to access them, all I have to do is plug in the Passport and open iTunes, or open the photos folder.
I would never have had enough room on my laptop to hold all of my media. This product has been so simple to use and to set up for this purpose!

I own two of these and love them. You can’t beat having nearly 500gb powered by USB. I don’t even take my TB with me anymore because I have it by just carrying two of these.
It’s not quite 500gb, but that is just like every other memory device you get. They never have exactly what is advertised due to drivers and other junk.
